Class of 2017 prepares for graduation
By Lauren Hince
On Feb. 3, the Class of 2017 will countdown toward its impending graduation with the annual 100 Days Party.
Every year the Senior Class Board is in charge of all graduation-related events. This year’s Senior Class Board consists of five seniors: Tessa Dillenbeck, Brendan McCoy, Mherete Mherete, Madeline Vandenhouten and Nicole Zeman. The board is overseen by Amy Gerretsen and Sharon Jackson.
“The 100 Days party is a senior-only event to celebrate the last 100 days of our Ripon College career. There will be music by WRPN Radio, a photographer and free pizza and beer!” says Nicole Zeman, a member of the Senior Class Board.
There are a lot of reasons to attend 100 Days, explained Mherete Mherete. “It’s time to celebrate our great friendships with our friends, teammates, classmates, roommates, etc.. [It] is all about fun and reuniting. Students will get the chance to socialize on a bigger scale,” Mherete said.
Sara Driebel, graduate of 2016, agrees that 100 Days is worth the trip, “It was more than a countdown to our graduation; it was a celebration of all we have accomplished and how far we have all come together.”
There is more to 100 Days than a good party; it’s also a chance to raise money for the college. Erin Cannon is one of this year’s Senior Class Gift Officers. Cannon helps coordinate fundraising on behalf of the senior class.
“[We have raised] a little over $1,370 from just student donations and a little over $1,640 total,” said Cannon. About 50 percent of the Class of 2017 has contributed to the gift.
100 Days Party is a Ripon tradition that marks a monumental moment for the senior class. Emma Bronson, a current senior, said, “It’s crazy to think we are 100 days away from being alumni.”
