Thanks to the Ripon College Feminists, Ripon will be throwing “One Big Sexy Blowout” Nov. 7 from 2-4 p.m.
The Blowout is a two-hour event geared towards spreading awareness about safe sex and how to be healthy while doing it.
Scheduled to be held in the Great Hall, the Blowout is going to be expo style, allowing the audience a chance to walk around to various stations with the freedom to peruse and ask questions.
“[The expostyle] will be effective as people will be able to learn about topics they want to learn about and are not forced into hearing topics they don’t care for,” commented Zachary Matson ‘17, a member of the feminism group.
In terms of content, the club has secured presenters like Planned Parenthood as well as sex educators Margo and Lily, who will give workshops about various sex and health-related topics.
“A lot of people have misconceptions about Planned Parenthood and what services they provide, so it’s a great opportunity for students to learn more about them, as well as other sex educators,” says Hannah Hirsch ‘17. “It’s also a great time for Ripon College to learn about Planned Parenthood because of all of the media coverage in the news lately.”
In addition to Sex Week, a week long awareness event run by the Queer Straight Alliance (QSA), the Blowout hosted by the Feminist group offers yet another tool to get schooled on sex.
The event is free to attend and everyone is invited to join the Feminists as they try to teach the college how to be a little more safe.
